The short answer: November to March is the best time for weather, October and April are the best value, and June to August is the cheapest but very hot.
Dubai has a desert climate with two clear halves: a warm, sunny, comfortable season from about October to April, and a hot, humid season from May to September. Your ideal month depends on what you care about most, so this guide breaks down each month by weather, crowds, prices and festivals, then groups the months into seasons so you can decide quickly.
A quick note before you start. Dates for Islamic holidays such as Ramadan and Eid move about 10 to 11 days earlier each year, and festival schedules are announced late, so always confirm the exact dates for the year you travel.

Winter (December to February): Peak Season
Weather. This is the Dubai most people imagine: sunny days in the mid-20s °C, comfortable evenings, and lows around 16 to 19°C in January. A light jacket is useful at night, especially by the sea or in the desert. February is usually the wettest month, but “wet” means a few showers, not a washout. The sea is coolest now, at around 22 to 25°C, so beach days are pleasant for sunbathing and walking, though some swimmers find the water chilly.
Crowds and prices. Winter is the busiest and most expensive time to visit. Hotels often raise rates sharply around Christmas and New Year, and rooms in popular areas can sell out weeks ahead. Expect queues at the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall and desert safari pick-ups, and book key tickets early.
Festivals and events. The Dubai Shopping Festival is scheduled for December 4, 2026 to January 17, 2027, with citywide promotions, entertainment and concerts. National Day on December 2 fills the city with flags and lights, and New Year’s Eve brings large fireworks displays that draw big crowds. In February, sporting events such as the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships are on the calendar, and Ramadan is expected to begin around February 8, 2027.
Best for: first-time visitors who want reliable weather, outdoor sightseeing, markets, beach walks and lively evenings, and who can afford peak prices.
Tips. Book flights and hotels as early as you can, compare the total hotel price including fees, and plan indoor activities for the occasional rainy day. If you want winter weather with fewer people, the second half of January and early February can feel calmer than the holiday weeks.
Spring (March to May): Warming Up, With Ramadan and Eid
Weather. March is still pleasant, with highs around 29°C, but the heat builds quickly. April is warm at about 34°C and works well for early mornings and evenings. By May, highs reach about 38°C, humidity is moderate and midday is best spent indoors. Rain is rare after March, and the sea warms from roughly 23°C to 29°C, which many swimmers prefer.
Crowds and prices. March can still be busy, particularly around Eid. April is a sweet spot for many travelers, with good weather and noticeably lower prices than winter. May is quiet and cheaper, because the heat keeps many visitors away.
Ramadan and Eid. Ramadan moves earlier each year. The UAE’s Astronomy Centre expects it to begin around February 8, 2027 and finish around March 8 or 9, with Eid Al Fitr expected on March 9 or 10, 2027. Eid Al Adha is expected around May 16 or 17, 2027. Exact dates are confirmed by moon sighting, so check shortly before you travel.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. Visitors are welcome, but you should avoid eating, drinking or smoking in public places during daylight hours, dress a little more conservatively, and expect shorter daytime opening hours for some venues. Many restaurants and malls adapt by setting aside screened areas or opening for visitors, and evenings come alive with iftar meals and special events. Many travelers find Ramadan a rich cultural experience, and hotel prices can be lower, though some entertainment is more limited. Eid itself is a festive time with public holidays, family gatherings and higher demand.
Best for: travelers who want warm weather at lower prices, cultural experiences, or beach time with a warmer sea.
Tips. Plan outdoor sightseeing for mornings or after sunset, carry water, and check opening hours if your trip overlaps Ramadan or Eid.
Summer (June to August): Hot, Quiet and Cheapest
Weather. Summer is intense. Daytime highs reach about 39 to 42°C, nights stay around 30 to 32°C, and humidity can climb close to 90 percent near the coast. Rain is essentially absent, and the sea is bath-warm at around 31 to 33°C. Walking outdoors at midday is uncomfortable and, for some people, unsafe without breaks.
Crowds and prices. This is the cheapest time of year. Hotel rates can fall by roughly half compared with winter, flights can be cheaper, and attractions are less crowded. Many residents also travel abroad in summer, so the city feels quieter.
Events. Dubai runs summer promotions each year, often called Dubai Summer Surprises, with discounts at malls and hotels and many family-friendly indoor events. The exact dates and programme change annually, so check them before you book.
Best for: budget-minded travelers, families who love air-conditioned attractions, and anyone happy to plan around the heat.
How to enjoy it.
- Treat the day in two parts: outdoors before 10:00 am and after sunset, indoors in between.
- Choose indoor highlights such as malls, aquariums, museums, indoor ski slopes and theme parks.
- Stay at a hotel with a good pool and, ideally, a private or shaded beach area.
- Drink water regularly, wear a hat and use strong sunscreen.
- Skip desert safaris and long walking tours, or choose evening versions.
Honest caution. If you are sensitive to heat, traveling with very young children, or hoping to do a lot of outdoor sightseeing, summer may be frustrating. If you are flexible and mostly want a hotel pool, a few indoor activities and good prices, it can be a smart choice.
Autumn (September to November): The Shoulder-Season Sweet Spot
September. Still very hot, with highs near 39°C and the warmest sea of the year, around 33°C. It is quiet and inexpensive, and the heat begins to ease toward the end of the month. It is a good time for pool holidays, but not for long walks.
October. This is often the best balance for first-timers. Highs fall to about 36°C early in the month and become noticeably more comfortable by the end, evenings are pleasant, and the sea is warm at about 31°C. Rain is almost unknown. Prices and crowds are moderate, so you can find reasonable hotel rates and shorter queues than in peak season. The Dubai Home Festival runs from October 16 to November 1, 2026, with discounts on home goods and family activities.
November. This is when the city shifts into peak season. Highs of around 30°C and cooler evenings make it ideal for outdoor sightseeing, beaches and desert trips. Prices and crowds rise through the month, especially near the end, but are generally lower than December and January.
Best for: first-time visitors who want good weather without the highest prices, couples, and anyone who plans to spend a lot of time outdoors.
Tips. Book early for late November, since demand and prices climb quickly. In early October, keep outdoor plans to mornings and evenings, and pack lightweight clothes plus one warmer layer for air-conditioned indoor spaces.
Which Month Is Right for You?
| If you want… | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The best weather and don’t mind paying | December to February | Mild, sunny, lively, with big festivals |
| Good weather and better value | October, November (early) or April | Comfortable most days, moderate prices |
| The lowest prices | June to August | Hotels can drop by about half, but it is very hot |
| Fewer crowds and a cultural experience | Ramadan period (check dates) | Quiet days, atmospheric evenings, limited daytime dining |
| Beach and pool time | April to June, or September to October | Warm sea, long sunny days |
| Outdoor sightseeing and desert trips | November to March | Cooler air makes long days easy |
Planning Tips
- Book early for peak dates. For late November through January, reserve flights and hotels as far ahead as you can, ideally two to three months.
- Check holiday dates. Eid, Ramadan and National Day affect hours, prices and crowds, and Islamic dates shift each year.
- Compare total hotel prices. Tourism fees, municipality charges and VAT can add around 25 to 30 percent to the advertised rate.
- Be flexible by a few days. Shifting by a week around a festival or school holiday can make a noticeable difference to cost.
- Pack for the season. Light, breathable clothing year-round; a light layer for winter nights and cold air conditioning; sun protection always.
- Plan your day around the heat in any month from April to October.
- Check the forecast and festival announcements a week before you travel, since dates and programmes can change.
Final Thoughts
There is no single perfect month, only the one that fits your priorities. If weather matters most, travel from November to March. If you want balance, aim for October or April. If price is the main concern and you can handle the heat, summer will reward you. Whichever you choose, a little planning around temperature, crowds and festivals will make your first Dubai trip far more comfortable and enjoyable.
